How to: Use Basler USB 3.0 and CXP-12 Cameras under VisionPro 9.7#
Issue#
The VisionPro 9.7 release notes indicate that VisionPro can support Basler USB 3.0 cameras directly via GenTL.
Basler boost CXP-12 cameras also support GenTL. However, VisionPro 9.7 can't recognize Basler boost cameras with the default installation.
Reason#
The VisionPro default installation will install VisionPro together with Pylon_Runtime_6.1.1.19832.exe. You can verify this via Windows control panel. Also, you can find a pylon6_driver directory in the VisionPro9.7 installation directory.
This version supports Basler GigE and Basler USB 3.0 cameras.
However, for Basler boost cameras, you must use a newer version of the runtime installer, for example Pylon_Runtime_7.3.0.27189.exe.
Solution#
- Install VisionPro9.7 without installing Pylon_Runtime_6.1.1.19832.exe (or remove Pylon_Runtime_6.1.1.19832.exe via Windows control panel).
- Download and install a newer runtime installer, e.g., Pylon_Runtime_7.3.0.27189.exe. After doing this, open Vision Pro9.7 again. It should recognize both Basler USB 3.0 and CXP-12 cameras.
Troubleshooting#
If after installing VisionPro 9.7 with a newer runtime, VisionPro 9.7 still can't detect Basler USB 3.0 and CXP-12 cameras, check if there are other GenTL-related drivers installed, such as Matrox GenTL or SiSo GenTL. After removing all other GenTL-related drivers, open VisionPro and try again.
